The Evapco ATC-1655E is a high-capacity, induced-draft, counterflow evaporative condenser designed for industrial refrigeration, HVAC, and process cooling applications. It efficiently removes heat from ammonia and other refrigerants to improve system performance.
An evaporative condenser uses a combination of air and water to cool refrigerant vapor. The refrigerant travels through the Thermal-Pak II® Coil, where heat is transferred to the water. As the water evaporates, it removes heat, condensing the refrigerant back into a liquid state.
- The ATC-1655E is widely used in:
- Ammonia refrigeration systems (food processing, cold storage)
- HVAC applications (commercial & industrial cooling)
- Chemical & pharmaceutical plants
- Data centers requiring high-efficiency cooling solutions
The Evapco ATC-1655E has a nominal capacity of 1655 TR per full package and 1175 TR for ammonia (R-717). When purchased as a single unit, the capacity is 828 TR (nominal) or 588 TR (ammonia).
The ATC-1655E is optimized for ammonia (R-717) but can also be used with other industrial refrigerants such as R-22 and R-134a.
This model includes Power-Band Belt Drive Systems and Totally Enclosed Fan Motors (TEAO) for reduced power consumption and quiet operation. It also has a low refrigerant charge, which helps maintain efficiency and cost savings.
- Installation includes:
- Setting the unit on a level, structural steel support frame.
- Connecting refrigerant piping to the coil.
- Installing water and electrical connections.
- Verifying proper airflow and pump operation.
- Testing the system before full operation.
The ATC-1655E requires a minimum clearance for proper airflow, with an overall length of 36' 2-1/2” and a height of 16' 10-7/8”.
- Ensure proper water levels in the basin.
- Start the spray pump before running fans.
- Gradually bring the unit up to operating temperature.
- Monitor drift eliminators and air intake louvers for blockages.
- Perform routine maintenance for optimal performance.
- Monthly: Check drift eliminators, spray nozzles, and pumps.
- Quarterly: Inspect the coil and water basin.
- Annually: Perform a full system check and clean the unit.
A non-chemical water treatment system is optional and recommended to reduce scaling, corrosion, and bacteria growth.
- Cost savings of up to 50% compared to new units.
- Immediate availability vs. long lead times for new equipment.
- Fully inspected & tested by Genemco to ensure performance.
- Large inventory ready to ship worldwide.
- Thorough inspections & testing before delivery.
- Expert guidance to find the right unit for your needs.
The ATC-1655E is designed for high-capacity applications and features a counterflow design for maximum efficiency. Compared to other models, it offers larger cooling capacity, better water distribution, and optimized heat transfer performance.
- The ATC-1655E is a counterflow condenser, whereas the ATWB series features a closed-circuit cooling system that may be better suited for water-saving applications.
- The PMC series is a forced draft evaporative condenser, whereas the ATC-1655E is induced draft, which offers quieter operation and better air circulation.
- Newer drift eliminator technology reduces water loss.
- More efficient fan motors reduce power consumption.
- Improved corrosion resistance extends equipment lifespan.
It is used to condense ammonia gas from compressors back into a liquid state. This is a crucial step in the heat rejection process of industrial refrigeration systems.
Yes, it meets IBC seismic compliance, ASHRAE, and CTI certification standards, ensuring reliability and durability in industrial applications.
