Genemco's History!

Did you know that Genemco has celebrated over 30 successful years in business?  When there are that many years behind a company - there has to be a good story. So...here's ours! 

What has come of Genemco today is far from what founder, Mark McMillan, originally started out doing. His previous company specialized in dairy products like milk, ice cream, heavy cream, etc. However, once he sold that company, he was left with a warehouse stocked with useful equipment and a head full of ideas! He was quick to apply his keen ability to sell with his established industry connections to birth what is now Genemco! 

Genemco, short for General Equipment Company, is a purchaser and reseller of quality, pre-owned industrial equipment with a focus on refrigeration and food processing. Genemco provides businesses the option to purchase quality equipment at prices that are 40 - 60% lower than the price of new! Perhaps in the current economic climate, the most appealing aspect just might be Genemco's quick turnaround time which is vastly shorter than when purchasing new. We can execute lightning-speed shipping because all the inventory is in stock and ready to ship as early as the next day! A new equipment purchase can take upwards of a year to ship out, and many companies don't have the time or resources to waste on waiting for equipment. 

Below is an overview of Genemco's history... 

By 1992 Mark began to build a robust inventory and became a leader in the acquisition of pre-owned food equipment at North American auctions. During this time he also began building his team of equipment experts.

It didn't take long for Genemco to expand. In 1995 Genemco began shipping its products worldwide, becoming a global supplier.

By 2002 Genemco was the first in the industry to launch its inventory online for global sales.

In 2007 Genemco became the world's largest supplier of used ammonia refrigeration equipment. If you needed it, Genemco had it!

As the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas, including the Genemco warehouse. By 2011 Genemco upgraded to a huge 700,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Hearne, Texas. The warehouse alone is a quarter of a mile long and sits on a 30-acre equipment yard.

In 2019 Mark's nephew, Erik McMillan purchased Genemco from his uncle. Erik has an advanced background in technology and saw huge potential for Genemco's future. Equipped with his tech experience and his Uncle's wisdom of the industry they began plugging away at improving the company on all fronts. 

In 2022 Erik and his business-savvy wife, Michelle McMillan, began to shape and mold Genemco into a new age, tech-savvy re-commerce business. With opportunity and growth in mind, they are assembling a dream team of bilingual sales superstars with great customer service backgrounds and knowledge of this niche industry. They have also invested heavily in a superior operations and marketing team to aid in bringing their vision to life and launched a new business-to-business e-commerce website platform offering customers a superior, secure, and effortless buying experience.
